Article:

The new work for Brass is now complete and there is a modified version for saxes in a different key which has been printed and proof read.
The piece is called "Closure" and is a reflective work which explores the thoughts of a former miner looking out over the landscape of dormant industrialised South Yorkshire. There is nothing pollitical in the work and the emotional level is tightly controlled, to reflect the contradictory thoughts of the subject.

Harlequin Brass did very well on the first run through and they seemed to like the music. I will plan a performance of it as soon as we can find an appropriate date.

The above file should take you to Scorch which can play the piece with the most awful twangy sounds you can imagine. It's worth clicking on it just to hear them. If you imagine the score played by good brass players it should show how it can sound. If I get a good recording next week I will try to get it on here as an mp3 file.
