Article:

Nottingham Symphonic Winds' Twenty Year Anniversary concert at the Albert Hall on 3rd November 2007 proved to be a memorable event not only for players and audience - but was also a hit with the critics.

In reviewing the year's best concerts in Nottingham, the Nottingham Evening Post have included the November 3rd concert - alongside such internationally renowned performers as Harry Christopher's Sixteen, the CBSO and the Halle. William Ruff, classical music reviewer, was clearly impressed with the event, "This concert celebrated 20 years of one of the best wind bands in the country. It was an exciting showcase of some dazzlingly difficult pieces."

Nottingham Evening Post's Best Classical Concerts of 2007
1.The Sixteen at Southwell Minster
2. Nottingham Symphonic Winds at the Albert Hall
3. Elder conducts Halle in Nottingham Classics series
4. CBSO and Chorus at the Royal Concert Hall
5. Nottingham Philharmonic Family Concert at the Royal Concert Hall

Organiser Margaret Frogson is delighted that the group has been recognised in this way. "It is fantastic that a community group like ours can deliver an evening of entertainment that ranks alongside some of these other groups, which are among the best in the world. Whilst we can't compete with the sheer professional finesse of the top orchestras we can provide a totally committed performance with great energy and style, and audiences respond to that. It is wonderful to get recognition from the Evening Post team who are really well placed to hear the best of what's on in and around Nottingham. We have had an amazing year - this tops it off perfectly."
