The Phoenix band filled the stage area with 56 players on Saturday night for a concert of mainly british wind music.

The group worked hard to prepare a complex programme and at times sounded really good. There were some interesting moments but nothing that the group could not recover from. Some of the playing in the English Folk Dances was really musical and very well balanced. There were some good performances from the experienced players who lead Phoenix so well.

The group continues to grow in confidence and musical ability and they can afford to take themselves very seriously amongst the many quality amateur musical organisations in Leeds.

This group has progressed so much and now enjoys full rehearsals and excellent attendance from the vast majority of players. The repertoire and the concert schedule both depend on this and continued improvement is the aim.
