NSWO played to a full house in Long Eaton on Saturday and there were many pleasing features of the performance.
The soloists tend to perform well in concerts and this one was no exception with some very good performances from clarinet, flute, xylophone, trumpet and french horn. The group coped well with the miriad of stylistic changes required and the audience appreciated the variety and commitment on show.
What was particularly pleasing was the quality in depth of NSWO and that has not always been the case in such concerts. The sophisticated clarinet blend, improved trumpet section, cohesive bass section and disciplined flutes are just a few notable examples of areas which made this an important concert.
The whole group played a difficult programme with huge commitment and concentration and this continues to please the audience, who are supporting the musicians enthusiastically from concert to concert.
I forsee an excellent, not-to-be-missed Christmas Concert!
